The Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) has officially confirmed the second stage of its planned workforce restructuring, which resulted in the retrenchment of 38 employees on October 22. This phase focused on positions associated with conventional project delivery methods. According to the agency, approximately 106 staff members will continue in their existing capacities, while an equal number have been offered opportunities for retraining or apprenticeship programs to facilitate transitions into different roles. This latest action follows an initial round of 93 layoffs conducted in July 2026. The agency's broader strategy aims to reorganize its operations to improve the speed and security of digital services provided to the public. GovTech has indicated that its total workforce reduction plan targets between seven and nine percent of its personnel across various government departments.
