A 48-year-old Singaporean resident, Chen Yongseng, has successfully overcome a terminal nasopharyngeal carcinoma diagnosis received in 2018. Initially given a prognosis of only one month to live, Chen underwent an intensive treatment regimen consisting of 37 sessions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Prior to his illness, Chen had spent eight years working in factory maintenance. He attributes the onset of his cancer to the severe emotional distress caused by the deaths of his mother and sister shortly before his diagnosis. During the early stages of his illness, Chen experienced significant physical deterioration, including a rapid loss of weight that reduced his waist measurement from 30 to 26 inches. Having defied his initial medical outlook, Chen now manages a noodle stall named Xiao Wen Ban Mian located at Block 504 Yishun Street 51 alongside his wife.
