Environment Minister Dammika Patabendi has officially gazetted new regulations to ensure the sustainable management and preservation of Nil Diya Pokuna, situated in the Ravana Ella Sanctuary. Authorized under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance, these rules aim to promote responsible tourism while protecting the ecosystem. The new guidelines impose specific age restrictions, prohibiting children under ten from entering the cave, while minors aged 10 to 18 require adult supervision. Students are mandated to present identification and follow established paths. Furthermore, the regulations strictly forbid bathing in the pond, the disposal of waste or foreign substances into the water, and the creation of excessive noise. These measures are designed to mitigate human impact on the sensitive environment and safeguard the site for future visitors.
