Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has authorized seven separate investment applications from TSMC totaling 44 billion U.S. dollars since late 2020. These funds support the chipmaker's expansive development projects in Arizona, which include the construction of multiple wafer fabrication plants, advanced packaging facilities, and a dedicated research center. While TSMC continues to scale its international footprint, the ministry emphasized its commitment to keeping the company's most sophisticated manufacturing processes and primary production capacity within Taiwan. Currently, the firm operates 19 facilities domestically and is actively developing 13 additional sites across various Taiwanese cities. The government remains focused on preserving Taiwan's comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem and technological edge, even as TSMC pursues global expansion and prepares for future production milestones, including the rollout of its A14 process technology scheduled for 2028.
