Beginning September 15, 2026, Thailand will transition from its current universal visa exemption policy to a new, tiered system based on nationality. The Ministry of Interior recently formalized these regulations in the Royal Gazette, effectively ending the previous 60-day visa-free scheme that had been available to 93 countries and territories since July 2024. Under the updated framework, travelers will no longer benefit from a blanket entry period. Instead, specific stay durations will be assigned according to the visitor's passport. Notably, 60 countries and territories will now be granted a 30-day visa exemption for tourism purposes. Travelers intending to visit or extend their stay in Thailand are advised to verify their specific entry category to ensure their travel plans remain compliant with these upcoming regulatory adjustments.
