The Turkish navy has located the wreck of the cargo vessel Tuğberk İmamoğlu, which sank on Wednesday following a collision with an empty oil tanker off the coast of Istanbul. Operating at a depth of 710 meters, the navy rescue ship TCG Akın found the vessel approximately 18 nautical miles south of Silivri. Underwater robotic footage reviewed by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül revealed a significant breach in the middle section of the hull, though officials have not yet determined if this damage occurred during the collision or the subsequent sinking. At the time of the accident, the cargo ship was carrying over 4,000 metric tons of steel products and had ten crew members on board.
