During his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the necessity of commencing reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip without delay. He appealed to global leaders to increase diplomatic pressure on Israel to facilitate this process. Following the conflict initiated in October 2023, United Nations data indicates that approximately 84 percent of infrastructure in the region has sustained damage or total destruction by October 2025. Although a ceasefire was mediated by the United States, Israeli military operations and restrictions on the importation of essential construction materials have hindered recovery initiatives. International aid organizations have reported that the lack of necessary equipment continues to prevent the start of rebuilding projects, leaving the territory in a state of severe devastation.
