President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has unveiled a comprehensive framework aimed at lowering poverty and unemployment rates throughout Uzbekistan. Following a detailed assessment of the Khorezm region, which evaluated thousands of low-income households, the government plans to allocate 3.2 trillion soums to local districts. Regional and district leaders are now mandated to dedicate three days weekly to addressing these socio-economic challenges. The initiative grants local offices greater authority to manage preferential loans for youth and family entrepreneurship, allowing them to customize repayment terms and funding methods. This shift responds to criticisms regarding bureaucratic obstacles and the insufficient expertise of local officials in supporting business development. By integrating banking services and employment agencies directly into regional operations, the administration seeks to bridge the gap between job seekers and existing vacancies in sectors like construction, services, and industry.
