The primary cause of these disruptions is the ongoing eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, located in the Sunda Strait, which has dispersed volcanic ash across the region. Consequently, major carriers including Emirates and Etihad Airways have been forced to suspend services connecting the UAE to Jakarta. While Indonesian officials have initiated the process of reopening several facilities, including the major Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the impact of the ash cloud continues to affect international flight schedules.
