The Economic Coordination Committee, led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, has approved a reduced budget of 6.6 billion rupees for the acquisition of security vehicles. This decision follows an initial request from the Cabinet Division for 12.6 billion rupees to procure bullet-proof transport for visiting heads of state attending the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Pakistan. The original proposal included the purchase of 35 Mercedes S680 vehicles, 29 BMW X5s, and six Toyota LC300s. After reviewing the financial requirements, the committee decided to cut the requested funding and the total number of vehicles by approximately half. This supplementary grant is intended to ensure the safety of international dignitaries during the high-profile diplomatic event scheduled for next year.
