Several Indian Institutes of Technology are preparing to expand their undergraduate cybersecurity programs next year, potentially tripling current seat availability. To streamline the selection process, these institutions plan to discontinue the use of JEE Main scores for admissions. Instead, they will implement a new system featuring a specialized aptitude test focused on computer science and problem-solving, followed by a hackathon for final candidate selection. This initiative aims to address the significant national shortage of cybersecurity professionals, as experts anticipate robust market growth and high demand for graduates in the coming decade. The curriculum integrates artificial intelligence, networking, and practical project-based learning to prepare students for industry and national security roles. Detailed syllabi and schedules for the updated admission process are expected to be finalized within the next few months.
