Residents of Astana observed a significant and rapid decrease in the water level of the Esil River on the morning of October 23. Social media users shared images showing large portions of the riverbed exposed near Kenesary Street, noting that the water had been at normal levels just the previous day. Eyewitnesses reported that the recession occurred overnight, leaving only small pools of water in certain sections where fishermen had been active only hours earlier. In response to the public concern, the Astana city administration, or akimat, has provided an explanation regarding the state of the river channel. This incident has drawn attention from local citizens who documented the drastic change in the river's appearance compared to its typical state.
