Various Bangsamoro stakeholders, including religious figures, indigenous representatives, and civil society members, have formally requested that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim convene before October 30, 2026. This push aims to finalize the outstanding components of the regional peace process, specifically the signing of an Exit Agreement and the conclusion of the decommissioning of MILF combatants. The appeal follows reports that the government is planning a meeting between the two leaders. The urgency of the request is tied to the upcoming inaugural session of the newly elected Bangsamoro Parliament. Supporters of the initiative emphasize that completing these final steps is essential to cementing the progress initiated by the 2014 peace agreement, which Murad helped negotiate to bring stability to the region.
