British Airways has officially restarted direct flight operations to Sri Lanka following a ten-year hiatus. The inaugural flight, a Boeing 777-200ER arriving from London Gatwick, touched down at Bandaranaike International Airport on Saturday morning. The carrier plans to maintain a schedule of three weekly round-trip flights between the two destinations. This development is anticipated to significantly benefit the Sri Lankan tourism sector, given that the United Kingdom represents a vital source market for international visitors. Furthermore, officials expect the restored air link to enhance bilateral trade, support business travel, and foster stronger interpersonal connections between the nations. Advantis Aviation Services, a division of the Hayleys conglomerate, is managing the local operations for the airline's return to the island.
