Various religious groups and poets in Ardabil have issued a formal statement opposing the reported prohibition of Islamic headscarves for female students in Azerbaijan. The community, known as Dar al-Irshad Ardabil Hosseini, argues that educational access should not be contingent upon the abandonment of religious practices. The signatories urged Iranian authorities and international legal bodies to advocate for the rights of these students. Furthermore, the statement criticized Azerbaijan’s broader domestic policies and its diplomatic ties with Israel. As a sign of solidarity, the group offered to accommodate Azerbaijani students who wear the hijab within schools in Ardabil. They emphasized that true liberty involves honoring individual religious convictions and encouraged the Azerbaijani public to peacefully seek the restoration of their religious rights and equal educational opportunities.
