During a visit to Istanbul, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed increased confidence regarding the potential for AtkinsRéalis to participate in Turkey’s nuclear energy development. Carney highlighted that the proposal to utilize Canadian CANDU reactor technology has become more viable over the last year. He emphasized that the combination of specialized technical expertise and prospective collaborations with local Turkish construction firms strengthens the Canadian bid. These remarks follow high-level discussions held in Ankara between Carney and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The two leaders recently established a strategic partnership framework aimed at deepening cooperation across several sectors, including defense, trade, and energy. The Canadian government views these strengthened diplomatic ties as a key factor in improving the outlook for Canadian companies seeking to engage in Turkey’s infrastructure and energy projects.
