Following a devastating mudslide caused by a glacier collapse in Nepal on August 26, Chinese emergency teams have intensified search and rescue efforts at Gyirong Port on the bilateral border. On Wednesday, workers successfully cleared and reopened the sole land access route to the port, which had been blocked by severe terrain damage and debris. This breakthrough enables heavy machinery, emergency personnel, and essential relief supplies to directly access the primary disaster zone. Despite this progress, rescue operations remain highly challenging. To mitigate risks and protect personnel, teams are utilizing advanced technology, including ground-penetrating radar and aerial surveillance, to monitor potential slope instability and prevent secondary disasters.
