The first feature-length film created entirely through artificial intelligence, titled "Sanxingdui: Future Past," has debuted in Chinese theaters. Despite a wide release encompassing over 10,000 scheduled screenings, the science fiction thriller has struggled to attract audiences. Data from the ticketing platform Maoyan indicates that advance sales reached only 65,000 yuan by Thursday, with total revenue projections failing to exceed 100,000 yuan. These figures represent a significant shortfall compared to the production costs associated with the project. Bona Film Group CEO Jiang Defu has publicly recognized the underwhelming commercial response to the movie, which serves as a notable test for the integration of generative technology within the domestic film industry.
