American rapper Macklemore will no longer serve as an opening act for the remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour. Messina Touring Group, the tour's promoter, announced the decision on Monday, citing concerns that his continued presence could lead to widespread concert cancellations. The move follows recent comments made by Macklemore in support of Palestine during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. According to the promoter, the decision was reached after consultations with various stakeholders to prevent disruptions that might have impacted hundreds of thousands of ticket holders. Venues scheduled for upcoming stops reportedly indicated they would not host the shows if the rapper remained on the lineup, leading to his removal from the tour's support schedule.
