A recent YouTube episode featuring Miyeon from the K-pop group (G)I-dle has sparked a controversy regarding South Korea's strict medical advertising regulations. The video, which aired on the wellness program Jeondosa, showed the singer undergoing a gastroscopy at a specific clinic. Following the broadcast, a viewer filed a formal complaint, suggesting that the clear display of the clinic's name might breach the Medical Service Act. In response to the allegations, the show's production team issued a public statement clarifying that the segment was intended to focus on health and wellness topics rather than commercial promotion. They emphasized that the medical examination was a legitimate personal appointment for the artist. Furthermore, the producers explicitly denied receiving any financial compensation or promotional requests from the medical facility involved in the filming.
