The Chinese Embassy in Nepal recently organized a memorial ceremony to honor those who perished in the devastating Bhotekoshi floods. This event coincided with Nepal's national day of mourning for the victims. As a mark of respect and solidarity, the Chinese national flag at the embassy was flown at half-mast. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, was among the officials present. The embassy conveyed a message emphasizing the continued mutual support between China and Nepal, pledging joint efforts to overcome the challenges and facilitate reconstruction in affected areas. The severe Bhotekoshi flood, which occurred on Bhadra 10, resulted in significant casualties and property damage in both Nepal and China. Furthermore, the critical Kerung border crossing, linking the two nations, sustained extensive damage during the disaster.
