The CPN-UML has expressed strong reservations regarding comments made by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle during his official visit to New Delhi. Wagle had suggested that the historical trend of associating Nepali nationalism with anti-Indian rhetoric has concluded. Niraj Acharya, the publicity department chief for the CPN-UML, publicly questioned the diplomatic necessity and political implications of such a statement. Acharya emphasized that Nepal maintains a sovereign foreign policy grounded in mutual respect, equality, and national interests. He further noted that as a long-standing member of the United Nations, Nepal operates under established principles of independence. The opposition party is now seeking clarification on the rationale behind the minister's decision to address this sensitive narrative while abroad, suggesting that the remarks may have been inappropriate given the country's diplomatic stance.
