Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to meet with his Yemeni counterpart, Afrah al-Zouba, in Istanbul this Saturday. During the discussions, Fidan intends to convey that the ongoing Houthi assaults against civilians are considered unacceptable by Ankara. The Turkish official is expected to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the conflict through diplomatic dialogue. Al-Zouba represents the internationally recognized government of Yemen, which has been engaged in a long-standing war against the Iran-backed Houthi movement since 2014. The conflict, which intensified following the expiration of a four-year truce in July, has exacerbated a severe humanitarian crisis in the nation. Fidan's meeting follows a series of diplomatic engagements in Istanbul involving regional and European representatives aimed at addressing the broader instability currently affecting the area.
