Authorities in Istanbul have confirmed that the number of fatalities resulting from recent severe flooding has reached six. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as teams attempt to locate one remaining missing individual. The latest victim, identified as Haşim Ciritlioğlu, was discovered near the Ayvansaray ferry pier. Heavy rainfall began last Wednesday, causing significant flash floods throughout Turkey's most populous city. While the initial death count was three, the toll climbed steadily as additional bodies were recovered over the following days. A separate storm system that impacted the Pendik district and the nearby Kocaeli province on Saturday night further exacerbated the situation, leading to additional casualties and property damage. Emergency services remain deployed to address the aftermath of these weather events and continue their search efforts for the final missing person.
