Data released by the Financial Supervisory Service indicates a substantial rise in the number of foreign nationals participating in South Korea's defined contribution retirement pension schemes. Over the past three and a half years, enrollment figures grew by 67.5 percent, climbing from 27,989 at the conclusion of 2022 to 46,872 by the end of June this year. This upward trend reflects an expanding engagement of non-citizens within the domestic retirement savings sector. Analysts suggest that this shift could play a role in diversifying and strengthening the nation's long-term investment landscape. The figures were disclosed following an inquiry by lawmaker Park Sung-hoon of the People Power Party, underscoring the increasing importance of foreign workers in the local financial ecosystem.
