During the 27th day of Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, her defense counsel contested the introduction of corporate documents linked to JTC Group of Companies and Pikimong Pikimong Philippines Corporation. Lawyer Justin Nicol Gular argued that the court had previously ruled these entities irrelevant to the proceedings due to a lack of established connection to the respondent. Furthermore, the defense noted that these companies were not cited in the original Articles of Impeachment. While the prosecution maintained that they intend to prove a link through witness testimony, Presiding Officer Francis Escudero suggested that the current witness was unnecessary for that purpose. Additionally, the defense challenged the presentation of audited financial statements, claiming the documents misleadingly attribute corporate figures to the Vice President. The court also heard testimony regarding Davao City's business dealings involving the Vice President's family.
