Simon Peter Carman, a 45-year-old Australian, has been remanded to Pattaya Prison after entering a not guilty plea regarding the death of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla. The victim's body was discovered in a suitcase near railway tracks in June. While Carman admits to transporting the body, he asserts he acted in self-defense, claiming the teenager threatened him with a knife. He also maintains he was unaware of her age, believing she was significantly older. Prosecutors have charged him with intentional murder, corpse concealment, and sexual offenses involving a minor. The court denied his request for bail, citing the high risk of flight, as authorities had previously apprehended him at Suvarnabhumi Airport while he attempted to depart for Australia. Legal proceedings are expected to span several months, with the next hearing scheduled for October 12.
