The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai has launched a new initiative named 'Click and Travel' to improve efficiency at the emirate's airports. This service utilizes handheld devices equipped with sophisticated facial and iris recognition technology, enabling immigration officials to authenticate passenger identities rapidly. By connecting directly to the GDRFA's digital database, these portable units facilitate identity verification without the need for travelers to wait in traditional immigration lines. Officials clarified that this system is intended to function as a supplementary measure alongside existing infrastructure, such as smart gates and the Red Carpet tunnel, rather than a total replacement. This technological integration aims to streamline the transit experience for passengers by reducing congestion and minimizing processing times during security checks.
