Egypt is enhancing its renewable energy sector through the Obelisk solar project, a $600 million initiative located in the southern part of the country. This facility, which represents the largest solar installation in Africa, produces approximately 1.1 gigawatts of power. A significant feature of the site is its integration of Chinese technology, including advanced battery storage systems designed to stabilize the national electricity network. To maximize operational efficiency, the project employs automated maintenance tools and robots powered by the sun to clean and manage the panels. Beyond this large-scale development, smaller solar installations are becoming increasingly popular in rural Egyptian areas, offering a more dependable alternative to traditional power sources. This collaboration highlights the growing role of international technological partnerships in achieving Egypt's energy goals.
