A group of 33 climbers was caught in an avalanche in the mountainous terrain of Kabardino-Balkaria. Russian authorities confirmed that 11 individuals lost their lives, while six others were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Ten climbers successfully escaped the snow and descended independently. Currently, rescue teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, supported by helicopters and 56 personnel, are searching for six missing persons. Officials have cautioned that the region continues to face a significant threat of further snow slides. In response to the tragedy, the local prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee have initiated formal inquiries into the incident.
