Mona Ali Al Suwaidi has transformed a modest digital gardening community into a significant national volunteer project dedicated to protecting the agricultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates. Originally established in 2021 as a WhatsApp group named Al Jinan Gardens, the effort focuses on reviving the ancestral practice of seed saving and sharing horticultural expertise across generations. By encouraging families to cultivate their own produce, the initiative aims to restore traditional domestic farming methods. Now entering its sixth season in 2026, the non-profit organization has seen substantial growth, successfully supporting over 1,000 participants during its previous cycle. This movement serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, ensuring that historical farming techniques remain relevant while promoting food self-sufficiency among local households.
