Johannes Hack, the chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, is leading a delegation to Brussels to improve the international perception of the city. This inaugural "door-knock" mission seeks to highlight the fundamental differences between the special administrative region and mainland China. The visit coincides with the release of Hong Kong's first five-year development plan on September 16. Hack noted that the city currently lacks a well-defined narrative, making it necessary to engage directly with European officials to explain its distinct economic and legal environment. By addressing misconceptions, the chamber hopes to reinforce Hong Kong's position as a global financial center that operates under a separate framework from other Chinese cities.
