This decision follows intense backlash over a failed proposal to sell stakes in future World Cup profits to private investors. The controversial plan has led to a loss of confidence from several national football associations and UEFA, which is reportedly considering legal action against him for alleged financial mismanagement. Although FIFA has issued an apology for the errors surrounding the commercial scheme, the pressure for Infantino to resign persists. Candidates for the upcoming presidential race must submit their applications by November 18, four months prior to the scheduled vote.
