A recent National Momentum Survey reveals that professional journalists remain the primary source of credible news for the Filipino public. Data indicates that 76.5 percent of adult respondents express trust in news organizations, significantly outperforming content creators and vloggers, who only garnered 31.3 percent trust. Conversely, a majority of participants, 64.1 percent, reported distrust toward social media influencers. This preference for traditional reporting persists despite the increasing prevalence of social media and the rise of AI-generated misinformation. Generational analysis shows that younger demographics, particularly Generation Z at 84.3 percent and millennials at 78.9 percent, demonstrate the highest levels of confidence in professional news outlets. Older generations also maintain a preference for journalists, though at lower rates compared to their younger counterparts.
