Swiss President Guy Parmelin is scheduled to arrive in Thailand for a three-day official visit starting October 15, following an invitation from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. This diplomatic mission marks the first time a Swiss head of state has visited the country in over two decades. The agenda includes discussions on bilateral trade, investment opportunities, and scientific cooperation, alongside negotiations regarding a potential free trade agreement between Thailand and the European Free Trade Association. The visit aligns with the 95th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations and occurs simultaneously with the hosting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund annual meetings in Bangkok. A business delegation will accompany the President, with official proceedings including a welcome ceremony at Government House, formal bilateral meetings, and a joint press briefing.
