Authorities in Marikina City declared the first alarm on Saturday evening after the Marikina River reached the 15-meter threshold, driven by continuous heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon. The local Public Information Office reported that the river's elevation climbed further to 15.3 meters by 9:00 p.m. Under the city's emergency protocols, the initial alert advises nearby communities to prepare for possible relocation. If water levels reach 16 meters, a second alarm will trigger preemptive evacuations, while reaching 18 meters will prompt a third alarm requiring mandatory evacuation for affected residents.
