A former government minister, currently in his sixties, has been released on bail by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The individual had been held in remand since September 2 to assist with an investigation stemming from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Lembaga Tabung Haji. MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the release today after the suspect's initial five-day detention period was extended by an additional two days. The investigation into the former lawmaker is being conducted under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. This inquiry follows the public release of an RCI report on July 29, which proposed twenty-five recommendations to enhance the governance, transparency, and professional standards of the pilgrimage fund board.
