A 35-year-old former Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer, Ken Ong Wei Qi, received a three-week prison sentence and a fine of S$6,500 following a motor vehicle accident. The incident occurred on June 14, 2025, when Ong crashed his car into a concrete barrier near Loyang Avenue while intoxicated. Following the collision, he provided false information to law enforcement by claiming he had consumed alcohol only after arriving home. In court, Ong pleaded guilty to charges of drink driving and misleading a public servant. Beyond the jail term and fine, he faces a three-year driving ban. An official spokesperson for the agency confirmed that Ong was moved to administrative tasks immediately after the crash and has since resigned from his position.
