This group was historically responsible for coordinating the annual Victoria Park vigils, which commemorated the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident and advocated for democratic reforms in China for over three decades. Among those convicted of inciting subversion was Chow Hang-tung. During the legal proceedings, she attempted to argue that the verdict equated the pursuit of democratic ideals with criminal activity, though the court restricted her from completing her statement. This development marks a significant point in the ongoing national security crackdown within the territory, which has now reached its seventy-fourth month of implementation.
