The Indian government is considering the implementation of artificial intelligence technology to assist states in identifying potential accident zones. This initiative follows the successful application of similar AI tools on national highways. The move aims to address the country's persistent road safety issues. Statistical data indicates a rise in traffic incidents, with 487,707 accidents resulting in 177,175 fatalities during 2024. This represents an increase from the previous year, which saw 480,583 recorded accidents and 172,890 deaths. By utilizing advanced data analysis, authorities hope to proactively mitigate risks and reduce the high mortality rate associated with vehicular travel in the region.
