The government of Nepal has launched an initiative to construct a dedicated tiger sanctuary aimed at addressing the increasing frequency of human-tiger conflicts. This development follows a significant rise in the nation's tiger population, which has led to more frequent incursions into human residential areas and subsequent casualties. To facilitate this project, the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) has formalized a partnership with the United States-based organization, The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS). The agreement, signed by NTNC member-secretary Dr. Chiranjibi Prasad Pokharel and TWAS executive director Pat Craig, seeks to provide a more suitable environment for tigers removed from their natural habitats. Currently, such animals are often housed in inadequate, confined spaces. The Ministry of Agriculture is overseeing these international collaborations to ensure long-term, humane care for the animals while enhancing public safety.
