Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached Sri Lanka today via an Indian Air Force flight, initiating a three-day diplomatic mission concluding on September 10. The primary objective of this trip is to enhance bilateral security ties. During his stay, Singh is set to engage in high-level discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and Defence Ministry Secretary Sampath Thuiyakontha. Key agenda items include reviewing the progress of the Indo-Lanka Defence Cooperation Agreement, which was established during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit last year. This diplomatic mission is particularly notable as it represents the first time an Indian Defence Minister has conducted an official visit to the island nation in nearly four decades.
