The Indian embassy in Moscow is currently coordinating with local officials and the family of an Indian engineer, Chandan Gupta, following his recent detention. His wife, Sneha Chandan Gupta, shared a video expressing concerns that her husband might be coerced into joining the Russian military amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She has requested intervention from Indian government leaders, citing her difficult situation as a foreign national in Russia. While the embassy confirmed it is monitoring the legal proceedings and has requested consular access, local reports suggest the detention may be linked to allegations of public intoxication and property damage. The engineer, who is employed by a Noida-based firm, had been residing in Moscow on a work visa. Official confirmation regarding the specific charges remains pending as authorities continue their investigation into the matter.
