Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has dismissed allegations that former House Speaker Martin Romualdez is feigning illness to avoid detention. During a press briefing at Camp Crame, Remulla stated that medical professionals from the Philippine General Hospital have verified the legitimacy of Romualdez's health issues. While Remulla clarified that he lacks the medical expertise to provide a personal diagnosis, he emphasized that the hospital's assessment confirms the former speaker requires ongoing medical supervision. Consequently, Remulla rejected claims that the situation is a staged performance, noting that the findings regarding the necessity of care while in custody originated directly from the hospital's medical staff rather than political sources.
