Israel is moving forward with the E1 construction project located to the east of Jerusalem. This development comes after a period marked by significant delays and considerable international opposition. Opponents of the plan contend that its implementation would effectively divide the West Bank geographically, thereby severely undermining the prospects for an independent Palestinian state. The international community has voiced concerns, with some warnings suggesting the potential for a binational or even an apartheid state. These developments have also been accompanied by discussions and threats of sanctions against Israel.
