On Monday, Governor Haribhau Bagade presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Sanjay K Agrawal, who officially became the 44th Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. The event, held at Lok Bhavan, was attended by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, his deputies, and various state officials. Justice Agrawal, previously a judge at the Chhattisgarh High Court, steps into this role following a period of administrative tension involving the former acting chief justice, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. Allegations regarding case management and administrative authority had been raised by Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta, prompting a formal review process. Justice Sharma denied these claims, providing evidence to the Chief Justice of India. The appointment of Justice Agrawal follows a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium and a subsequent notification from the central government.
