The event, held at Lok Bhavan, was attended by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, his deputies, and various state officials. Justice Agrawal, previously a judge at the Chhattisgarh High Court, steps into this role following a period of administrative tension involving the former acting chief justice, Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. Allegations regarding case management and administrative authority had been raised by Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta, prompting a formal review process. Justice Sharma denied these claims, providing evidence to the Chief Justice of India. The appointment of Justice Agrawal follows a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium and a subsequent notification from the central government.
