Senator Panfilo Lacson has defended his investigation into infrastructure irregularities in Taguig, asserting that his inquiry successfully uncovered numerous non-existent flood control and slope protection initiatives. This response follows criticism from Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, who had previously dismissed the senator's efforts as a mere ghost hunt. Lacson confirmed that the Office of the Ombudsman is currently reviewing the matter. His team has formally submitted 45 detailed case studies to anti-graft authorities, providing documentation that suggests systemic corruption. The evidence highlights fraudulent billing practices, including the submission of manipulated or identical photographs by various contractors to misrepresent the actual status and completion of public works projects. The ongoing investigation aims to address these alleged anomalies within the flood mitigation sector.
