The legal representatives of Senator Ronald dela Rosa have formally contested the legitimacy of a 50-million-peso reward offered by the government for his apprehension. The law firm, Torreon and Partners, argues that utilizing public funds for such a bounty lacks a proper legal foundation, noting that no domestic court has issued an arrest warrant for the senator. This dispute follows an announcement by Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, who established the reward and provided a one-week deadline for the senator to turn himself in. The government's initiative is linked to an International Criminal Court warrant, but the defense maintains that the reward system is improperly applied in the absence of a local judicial order. Authorities are currently investigating reports suggesting that an armed faction in Mindanao might be providing refuge to the senator.
