The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has taken enforcement action against eight restaurants in Mumbai, immediately suspending their operating licences. This decision followed a two-day inspection process conducted on Wednesday and Thursday. During these operations, officials confiscated approximately 38 tonnes of food products valued at Rs 54.6 lakh throughout the state. Regulatory authorities identified several critical health and safety violations, such as unsanitary kitchen conditions, faulty drainage, rusted equipment, and the presence of unapproved food dyes in confectionery items. Furthermore, some establishments failed to maintain proper temperature logs or provide medical documentation for their staff. The affected businesses include various well-known outlets such as Domino’s Pizza in Bhandup, Bikkgane Biryani, and several other local eateries across Mumbai neighborhoods like Bandra, Kurla, and Mazgaon.
