The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has implemented red and yellow alerts for the Visayas power grid, alongside a yellow alert for Mindanao, following the unavailability of several major power generation facilities. In the Visayas, a red alert is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. due to a projected supply deficit, with peak demand estimated at 2,507 megawatts against a capacity of 2,400 megawatts. This grid is currently affected by 29 plants under forced outage and 14 operating at reduced capacity. Meanwhile, the Mindanao grid is under a yellow alert during specific afternoon and evening hours, as 26 plants remain offline. These measures are necessary to manage the grid stability as the total unavailable capacity across these regions remains significant.
